The Parents as Partners Handbook

The Parents as Partners Handbook can be found at http://www.utahparentcenter.org/publications/handbooks/.

This is a helpful link in understanding the IEP process and what it entails.  For parents it completely outlines the process and provides every step in setting up an Individualized Education Plan for a student with special needs.  I found it helpful that the handbook provided so many relevant examples for parents so that even someone new to the entire system would be able to read through the information and understand what they needed to do to complete the process.  Being new to learning about IEP and how to best assist students with special needs I found the link extremely beneficial and clear to understand which I think would help any parent trying to navigate their way through this procedure.

A Helpful Link on IDEA

A helpful link regarding IDEA and IDEIA 2004.

http://www.idea35.org/

This link provides some useful insight into both IDEA and IDEIA 2004. It is run by the Council for Exceptional Children and this specific page was created to celebrate 35 years of IDEA. It includes useful resources such as a complete discussion on what IDEA has meant to educators and what the future holds for special education law. Overall I found a lot of helpful information that bettered my understanding of IDEA and the impact that it has had on America's education system. The IDEA success stories were actual accounts of this plan in action and demonstrate its effectiveness.
